I didn’t get a chance to do a video tutorial last night because I’m recovering from some horrible allergies. But I was able to track down some video of six comic book legends drawing super heroes.

In this first clip, we have the one and only John Romita drawing Spider-Man and Joe Kubert drawing Man-Bat. Out of all the artists who have ever drawn our friendly neighborhood hero, Romita’s Spider-Man is definitely one of my all time favorites.

John Buscema draws Captain America and Bill Sienkiewicz draws Electra. Buscema’s brush work is absolutely expert, so controlled and precise. I’ll be studying this clip for a good long while. I also really love the looseness of Sienkiewicz’s line work. He only uses a few gestures to render the face, but he gives Electra such attitude.

Finally we have Dave Gibbons drawing Green Landern and Travis Charest drawing Super Man. Gibbons’ lines are just so clean and precise. I’ve never been a fan of the brush pen but he manages to make it look so clean. I could seriously watch Travis Charest work for hours and consider it time well spent. I’ve been a huge fan of his work since his Wild C.A.T.S. days and have witness his work grow in leaps and bounds. If he ever releases an instructional DVD, I’ll be the first to sign up!
