Snacking Cutie – Part 3, Cutie Grayscale Detailing

In part 3 of our walk through, we focus on rendering the cuties!

Please forgive the random philosophical and somewhat incoherent musings but I figured talking about what I was actually doing would be a bit repetitive, “okay, brush stroke, brush stroke, increase brush size, brush stroke, brush stroke, blah, blah…”

Other videos in this series:

  • Part 1 – Grayscale Sketching
  • Part 2 – Background Grayscale Detailing
  • Part 4 – Initial Color Blocking
  • Part 5 – Custom Brushes and Cutie Colors
  • Part 6 – Squid Hat Detailing
  • Part 7 – Devil in the Details
  • Part 8 – Bloody Sock
  • Part 9 – Doing the Butt
  • Part 10 – FIN

Awesome as always. Fun fact, with the color part at the end, the human eye has the capacity to see more shades of green than any other color, so green is a good color to judge the depth and variety of your shade values.

Your videos are awesome and the video posts of other artists, like that manga one, are really inspirational. I always love to learn about the process and see what other artists think about their work and how they create it. This blog has motivated me to really get serious about my art.

Also most of those design contests are really crap. It makes you wonder about people’s tastes because they pick the weirdest things.

The Wacom Graphire is no more, they replaced it with the Bamboo line. I have an 4×6 Intous3 which I like very much.
