Inking With the Cutie

Now that we’ve made our comfy brush holder, it’s time to use our new device to ink something!  This week, we ink a comic strip.

A tip for shooting the videos. If you’re gonna do a close up video like this, where you are basically doing anything with your hands. You can use one of those little desk lamps to light from whatever side is opposite what hand you are using. Put it as low to the table as possible before it becomes 100% parallel. It will look weird because it’s almost as if you are lighting your hand, but in actuality you want that. What will happen is the shallow angle makes less shadow from your hand, as well as the light bouncing off your hand will hit the paper and make everything more visible.

That’s a really good idea. Ideally, I want to be able to shoot strait down on what I’m doing, but my camera is too heavy for that. The light thing was a little tricky because I was a bit too cramped, but I like the idea of using another lamp. I’ll tweak it a little next time I try to do something like this.
